Larry R. Noffsinger, 78, of Jefferson Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 6, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, Larry was the son of the late Ray and Elma (Franzen) Noffsinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Gaye Lee (McLear) Noffsinger; his brother, Don (Carol) Noffsinger; his children, Alex (Carolynne) Noffsinger of Maineville, Ohio, and Natalie (Noffsinger) Cantrell of Lebanon, Ohio; his ten beloved grandchildren, Braxton, Maria, Olivia, Kayla, Jordyn, Mackenzie, Jacob, Jeremy, Korey, and Kennedy; his great-grandchild, Juniper; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, former students, players, and lifelong friends.
Larry graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1966, where he excelled as a football player. His love for athletics and education led him to earn a bachelor's degree from Manchester University and a master's degree in Education from Xavier University.
While building a life dedicated to teaching and coaching, Larry met the love of his life, Gaye Lee. They were married on September 16, 1972, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades. Together they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love while raising their two children, Alex and Natalie.
Larry devoted his professional life to shaping the lives of young people. He began his teaching and coaching career at his alma mater, Jefferson Township, before spending more than 30 years serving students and athletes in the Centerville City School District.
As an elementary physical education teacher and high school football coach, he became a mentor, role model, and trusted presence to countless young people. Years after graduation, former students and players would still stop him to share stories, thank him for his encouragement, and tell him about the lasting impact he had on their lives. For Larry, teaching and coaching were never just jobs—they were his calling.
Retirement never seemed to suit Larry. Even after leaving the classroom, he found his way back to the sidelines and practice fields, continuing to share his knowledge, passion, and unmistakable voice with the next generation.
At home, he could often be found working on a project, helping someone in need, cheering for his favorite teams, or enthusiastically critiquing whatever game happened to be on television.
Above all else, Larry loved his family. Nothing brought him greater pride than his role as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren, whether sharing stories, offering advice, attending games and activities, or simply enjoying being together. His family was the center of his world, and the values he lived by—hard work, perseverance, loyalty, humor, and unconditional love—will continue to guide them for generations to come.
Larry lived life on his own terms. He faced challenges with determination, celebrated victories with humility, and never stopped fighting for the people and things he loved. His legacy is found not only in the wins on the football field or the students he taught, but in the countless lives he influenced through his example, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others.
Though his absence leaves a tremendous void, his family finds comfort in knowing that his lessons, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
