Laurie J. Mitrovich

August 5, 1968 — December 29, 2023

Centerville

Laurie J. Mitrovich, age 55, of Centerville, passed peacefully on Friday, December 29. 2023. She was born August 5, 1968 in Buffalo, New York; the daughter of the late James and Shirley (Rindcen) Rennie.

Laurie grew up in Orchard Park, New York where she graduated from OP High School in 1986 before attending Edinboro University where she received her Bachelor’s in English. After college, she moved with Pam (Bardy) Miller to Charleston, South Carolina.  It was in Charleston where she met the man who would become her best friend and husband; in 1994, Laurie and Mark were married and began their near 30 year journey of marriage. After living in Pittsburgh, PA, Lexington and Louisville, KY, they eventually settled in the Dayton, Ohio area in 1996. In 2001, they started their family by welcoming Grant into their lives, and in 2004, they brought Carter home and their family was complete.

She was a Retail Manager for many years prior to raising a family. As she raised her boys, she began working for the Dayton Humane Society where she was able to appreciate her love for animals. Laurie was involved with the South Metro Optimist Club as well as Crossview Christian Church. Laurie and Mark loved to be around friends whom they considered their local ‘family.’ Through all the social activity, Laurie made numerous friends over the years and these friendships lasted a lifetime, it was impossible not to be drawn to her.  Through the years, Laurie and Mark enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping.  They took many trips across the country where they explored new places and had great adventures.

In 1998, Laurie was diagnosed with kidney disease. Over the past 25 years, Laurie underwent two separate transplants (1999/2011); we were blessed to be introduced to Jeanine, Jackie, and Linda who gave her the gift of life. Laurie was always positive, upbeat, joyful, and an encouragement to others even through her health challenges.

Laurie is survived by her beloved husband, Mark; sons, Carter and Grant; sister, Pamela (Joe) Rennie Aromola; and nephews and nieces, Michael and Mark Aromola, Anna and Mary Mitrovich.
