Lawrence E. "Larry" Leese

LEESE, Lawrence E., died March 18th, 2023.

Larry was born on April 13th, 1934. His parents were Dr. Charles Leese and Doris Fields Leese. He was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Donald, and by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Lawrence Leese.

He graduated from Stivers High School, received a B.S. in Industrial Management from The University of Dayton and an MBA from Central Michigan University. He also was a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.

After college, Larry trained as a Naval Aviator. He made one cruise on the USS Shangri-La. After serving in the Navy, he was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he had a 37-year career in Civilian Personnel. He spent his last 13 years as the Civilian Personnel Officer.

Larry and Barbara are survived by two children, Larry Jr. and Linda. They have four grandchildren who have brought great joy to their lives, and one great grandson.

Larry was a longtime member of Oakwood Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Her served as President in 1986-87. He was an Eagle Scout and active as a Scout Leader while his son was a Scout, notably as a chaperone for a 2-week C&O Canal hiking trip.

Larry’s remains have been donated to Wright State University Medical School. He was a great believer in the power of education, and generously paid for his children, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews to obtain college degrees.

Larry’s remains will be scattered on Lake Erie where he spent many pleasant days with family and friends – most notably on the porch of the Round House Bar.

There will be a Celebration of his happy, productive and well-lived life on March 31st, 4-7 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH, with a Memorial Celebration at 6:00PM.
