Obituary

It is with a profound sense of gratitude and celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lloyd Wilfred "Skip" Wicklund, who left this world peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 80. A cherished resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, Skip will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, creative talents, entrepreneurial vision, and deep commitment to family and community.

Born August 19, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota, Skip graduated from Fairmont High School and furthered his education at Miami University, earning his degree in business. It was at Miami University where he met the love of his life, Susan Chakrian. The two married in 1968 and built a remarkable life together, sharing not only a loving marriage but also a passion for creativity and business. Susan was an integral part of Skip's entrepreneurial journey, co-owning and helping operate their businesses while supporting and encouraging his artistic vision throughout their years together.

Skip initially made his mark at Federated Department Stores before bravely stepping into entrepreneurship with Susan as owners of Contemporary Galleries, Inspaces, and Wicklund Interiors. His creativity, vision, and passion for design enriched the lives of countless clients and transformed spaces into reflections of beauty, comfort, and individuality.

A proud member of the Scandinavian Society of Cincinnati, Skip also served on the board of Pleasant Run Farms Community (PRFC), embodying his belief in the importance of giving back. His optimism, generosity, and warm-hearted nature made a lasting impact on everyone he met, and many were touched by his unwavering kindness and willingness to help others.

In addition to being a talented entrepreneur and designer, Skip was a gifted artist known for his interior design expertise, drawing, and watercolor painting. He embraced life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and gratitude. Whether traveling, creating art, spending time with family, or contributing to his community, he found joy in every opportunity to connect with others and make the world a little brighter.

Skip is lovingly survived by his sons, Allen Wicklund of Mason, Ohio; Kent Wicklund of West Chester, Ohio; and Brett Wicklund (Crystal) of Lebanon, Ohio; his cherished grandchildren, Tia Wicklund, Bryant Wicklund, Lainey Hancock (Levi), and Ashley Grady (Andrew); and his brother, Bill Wicklund of Kettering, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Wicklund (née Chakrian); his parents, Lloyd and Helen Wicklund; and his brother, Wayne Wicklund.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a service to follow, at Routsong Funeral Home Kettering Chapel. Following the service, a procession will lead to Calvary Cemetery for burial. Chaplain Mark Fightmaster will officiate the ceremony, guiding family and friends through a heartfelt farewell to a truly extraordinary man.

To everyone at U.C West Chester Hospital, American Mercy Home care, and Christian Mason Village for all the time and effort in supporting our dad's fight with cancer, It was a long journey and the family could not have gotten through this without your unwavering support. We also appreciate the support of friends and acquaintances who never stopped visiting and offering friendship and emotional support for our father, Very special shoutout to Tobi and Shawna at American Mercy for their continued medical support 24 hours a day. It meant the world to him and to our family. All of you are truly very special people. In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash.
