Margaret “Peggy” Ziegler of Dayton, Ohio, died on September 15, 2025, following a brief illness. She was 89 years old.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Neil C. and Corrine (Rose) Rapp, along with her beloved husband of 66 years, Walter F. Ziegler. She is survived by her sons, David Ziegler of Kettering, OH; Paul (Lauran) Ziegler of Richmond, VA; Andrew (Cate) Ziegler of Oakwood, OH; one grandson and three great-grandchildren of Springboro, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was born on May 17, 1936, in Olean NY. She graduated from Olean High School in 1953 and later attended Buffalo State Teachers college, graduating with a bachelor's degree in primary education. She was active in multiple school districts across the United States.
Walt and Peggy were married on December 27,1958. The first 10 years of their marriage were spent moving throughout the country for Walt’s work, finally setting in Lancaster, OH, where the two elder sons graduated from high school. In 1982, Peggy moved to Richmond, VA, when Walter changed jobs. They remained there until his retirement, after which they returned to Lancaster. Peggy moved to Dayton to be close to her sons after the death of her husband.
Peggy was an avid reader and bridge player. She volunteered her time at the Fairfield County Library and the Fairfield County Heritage Society. She had many friends and will be dearly missed.
There will be a private ceremony in 2026 where she will be buried with her husband in Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation in her name to the Fairfield County Library or the Fairfield County Heritage Society.
