Margarita Q. Tuss

October 17, 1956 — August 7, 2017

TUSS, Margarita Maggie Quintana passed peacefully at home in the arms of her beloved husband, Jim Tuss, after a thirteen year battle with breast cancer. She was predeceased by her mother, Margarita Couceiro in 1984 and her beloved bunny, Nibbles in 2016. Born in Havana, Cuba on 17 October, 1956, her family emigrated to Madrid, Spain in 1969 after the Cuban Revolution, and eventually settled in Dayton, Ohio in 1972. Maggie graduated in the inaugural class of Chaminade-Julienne High School in 1974. Following graduation, she entered the University of Dayton where she earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1978. Maggie began her professional career at Dayton, Power and Light, where she met her husband Jim. They married in 1981. She eventually went to work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), where she rose through the ranks and became Chief of the Engineering Division of the 88th Civil Engineering Group where she led the design and construction of many beautiful new buildings. She retired in early 2016. Maggie and Jim lived at their home in Miami Township for nearly 36 years. They had a wonderful life together. Maggie loved to travel, especially to the beach. She loved to shop, particularly with her younger sister, Lourdes, whom she thought of as her Barbie doll. During the summers she loved to golf and relax by the pool. In retirement, she joined a garden club to pursue her love of flowers. She had a deep faith in God and was a member of St Henry Parish, in Dayton, OH. She was an inspiring 13 year survivor of breast cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband, Jim Tuss of Dayton, OH; her sister Lourdes Quintana Maurice (Mark, deceased 2016), of Alexandria, VA; her godson and nephew Anthony Maurice of San Jose, CA and her newest nephew, puppy Santiago, Mother-in-law, Mary Tuss (John, deceased) of Dayton, OH; Brother-in-law, John Tuss of Dayton, OH; her niece and nephew Jamie Tuss (Phil Tokarsky) of New York, NY and Michael Tuss of Dayton, OH; her father Gustavo Quintana of Middletown, CT; many cousins throughout the world and wonderful friends, especially Barbara Burgess O'Brien of Dayton, OH. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 on August 11, 2017 at St. Henry's Catholic Parish, 6696 N Springboro Pike, Dayton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service at the church.
