Marilyn Marie Kenney

April 3, 1946 — October 4, 2023

Kenney, Marilyn Marie of Washington Township, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 77 after a decades long and valiant fight with breast cancer. Marilyn was born on April 3, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to Frank and Vivian Sull. As a child she enjoyed getting dressed up to see Rike's Department store at Christmastime, gathering for homecooked meals on Lamme Road, and shining bright as a Carrolltone for the West Carrollton Pirates. After graduating from West Carrollton Senior High School in 1964, Marilyn built a successful career in Marketing and Advertising in and around the Dayton Area.

In 1972 Marilyn met the love of her life, her husband Tom who she quaintly married during their lunch hour. Together throughout their almost 50 years of marriage they traveled the world, enjoyed big breakfasts, danced the night away at concerts - seeing everyone from Michael Jackson to Garth Brooks - and formed a family of four boys, two daughters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Marilyn committed every waking hour to her family. The moment one of her children or grandchildren walked through her front door, everything was right in her world. She was so selfless that her main hobby is best described as filling the bellies of those she loved with food from her heart. And from scratch. Her favorite ingredients were butter, sugar, salt and gallons of love. Some of Marilyn's most favorite days were spent vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and the beaches of Florida. She loved going to restaurants, supporting her many grandchildren in their many endeavors, shopping for clothing and home decor, making her house a home, listening to Elvis, working with soap opera star Don Diamont, drinking coffee, and occasionally a toasted almond. As we forge ahead on a path that is dim without her beautiful light we will remember her smile, her homemade cabbage rolls and meatloaf, her sense of humor, her fully stocked fridge and pantry, her Sunday dinners, her holidays done better than anyone could imagine, her back scratches, and the way she made us each feel like we were the most special person in her life. Marilyn's absolute pleasure and honor was to serve her family, but the pleasure of having her as the ultimate matriarch in our lives was truly our honor.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Vivian Sull and her sister Barbara (Tom) Antonelli. Marilyn is survived and will be immeasurably missed by her husband Tom, sons Douglas (Melinda) Witherby, Tommy Kenney, Jeff Kenney, and Scott (Katie) Kenney, her thirteen grandchildren Jessie (Aubri), Brooke, Dillon, Olivia, Tristan, Chesney, Scarlett, Ezra, Mia, Beckton, Kalvin, Lucia, great grandchild Rae, sister-in-law Kathy Antonelli, niece Angie (Rick) Fozard, nephew Tommy Antonelli, goddaughter Lauren Fozard, best friend Linda Kenney, and countless other friends and family members.

Marilyn's family and friends will gather on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 11-1pm with a Memorial Service at 1:00pm. Both will take place at The Gathering Church, 8911 Yankee St, Centerville, OH 45458. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Maple Tree Cancer Alliance, where Marilyn learned to love exercise. For fond memories and expressions please visit www.routsong.com.
