Marilyn "Lynn" Baker

Marilyn “Lynn” Baker, age 81, of Centerville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on September 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family under the compassionate care of Hospice of Dayton. Her gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lynn was born on June 1, 1945, to Donald and Mary Beam, growing up alongside her brother Woody. Her warmth, creativity, and cheerful disposition touched the lives of many.

In December of 1972, Lynn found her soulmate in James Baker when they met through the church choir, marrying just three months later. Their 53 years together were filled with love, laughter, and shared passions, including Lynn's love for painting, drawing, photography, and spending time in nature. She cherished day trips, deer watching on country roads, and visits to Amish country, often sharing these joyful experiences with her family.

Lynn leaves behind her devoted husband, Jim Baker, and their daughters Dianna “Dee” Blakesly-Darner, Donna (Darrell Sexton) Darner, Ginny (Jesse) Johnson, and Jessica (Ron) Nartowicz. Her legacy will also be carried on by her beloved grandchildren, Sydney and Nathan Schomburg, Jenna and Grady Cokins, Ethan Nartowicz, Keeley and Gavin Johnson, as well as numerous friends and extended family who were fortunate to know her.

To honor Lynn’s life and the love she shared, family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 30, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Kettering (3939 Swigart Rd). A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Following services, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, whose compassionate care and support made a tremendous difference in Lynn's final days.

Lynn's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love.
