Marilyn M. Mitchell

MITCHELL, Marilyn M. (nee Briggs), age 97, of Centerville, OH passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Friday, September 18, 2026. 

She is survived by her children, Karen Colwell (Boyd) and William Mitchell (Sue); two sisters, Nancy Master and Ann Corner (Jack); four grandchildren, Matthew Lipinski (Erica), Erin Mitchell, Adam Colwell, and Megan Mitchell; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Lipinski, Anna Lipinski, Mitchell Hunt, Garrett Hunt, Olivia Colwell and Penelope Colwell; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Mitchell; mother, Marzella Briggs Creighton (Smith), and her father William Briggs. 

Marilyn was a life long member of the ELCA Lutheran Church (Zion Lutheran since 1989.) She was a member of the Daughters of Nile No. 57, and Bara Court No. 15, both of Antioch Shrine Center. She retired from Oakwood School System in 1989 as secretary at Edwin D. Smith School for 25 ½ years. 

Visitation will be held from 10-11AM on Thursday, September 24 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM. There will be a private burial service at David’s Cemetery, Kettering. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
