Marilyn Richey went into the loving arms of Jesus on September 4th 2026

Marilyn was born in Logan, Ohio on July 28, 1939. She lived with her parents Eddie and Opal St Clair until she went to Nursing School in 1958 at White Cross Hospital in Columbus, where she met the love of her life, Keith Richey in 1959. They fell in love and were married on November 24th, 1960. Keith had one more year of college at Ohio State, so after Marilyn graduated from White Cross, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. When Keith graduated in June 1961 and accepted a position as a civilian engineer with the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, she and Keith moved to Dayton, Ohio where their first daughter, Chris was born in August 1961. They had two other children: Denise born July 1965, and Eddie, born July 1968. In 1972, they moved to Centerville. Marilyn was a stay-at-home Mom until all the kids were in school and then worked part-time for 20 years as an office nurse for Dr. Joseph Albrecht at South Dayton Family Physicians.

Marilyn was active in the Methodist Church from when she was a young girl, and continued to serve the Lord all her life. Most recently, she was the President of the Auxiliary for the Gideons International, Dayton South camp. Since 1992, she and Keith have been Missions Coordinators for the Huber Heights Free Methodist Church where Denise’s husband Randy serves as Pastor.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Keith, children Christine (Larry) Hurtubise, Denise (Randy) Griffith. Eddie (Sherry) Richey, sister Mary (Mike) Glenn, brother-in-law Tom (Robin) Richey and six grandchildren: Joe Griffith, Dan (Lindsey) Griffith, Rachel Griffith, Anna Hurtubise, Thomas Hurtubise, and Ethan Richey. Dan and Lindsey are expecting Winnie, a great-granddaughter for Marilyn and Keith in October. In addition to her parents, Marilyn is predeceased by her sister Martha (Chuck) Smith. She leaves a niece Jamie (Ben) Cole and nephews Scott Smith and Jeffery (Juan) Glenn, and great-nieces Caitlin Smith and Claire Cole, and great-nephew Parker Cole.

Marilyn will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend to many who knew her. She shared her love through service and witness to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by cooking and hosting large family gatherings, and holding many close in prayer. She had a ready laugh, was always ready to help or offer advice. She shared her love by countless acts of service, whether by caring for elderly relatives or befriending a person in need. Marilyn personified Jesus’ love for the vulnerable and saw all as neighbors and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

A funeral will be held on September 12th at 11 AM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N Main St in Centerville with Pastor Randy Griffith presiding. Friends may visit from 9 AM to 11 AM. Burial and graveside services following the funeral will be at David’s Cemetery 4600 Mad River Rd in Kettering. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 292002, Kettering Oh 45429-0002, or to Hospice of Dayton.
