Marilyn F. Schmalstig

Marilyn F. Schmalstig, age 92, formerly of Kettering, Ohio went home to be with our Lord on March 9, 2026. Marilyn was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 6, 1934 to Joseph and Gertrude (Kramer) Reger. Upon graduating from Patterson-Cooperative High School in 1952, Marilyn was employed by Standard Register for four years. A long time member of Ascension Parrish, Marilyn was involved with their quilting club and sang in their choir for many years as a soprano. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the University of Dayton Flyers. 

She is preceded in death by her children Carla Schmalstig (Kulhanek) and Patrick Schmalstig, and her husband Thomas of 66 years. She is survived by her brother William Reger (Karin), sons Dennis (Judy) of Winter Park, FL, and Anthony (Victoria) of Newark, OH, grandchildren Daniel (Rachael), Christopher (Chelsea), Annie (Bryant), Alan (Amy), Patrick, and six great-grandchildren Clare, Erin, Bridget, Ava, Lyla, and Finn. Visitation will be Friday March 20, 2026 at Ascension Catholic Church from 10-11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
