Mark Edward Alexander, age 69, died on May 17, 2026.
Born on September 7, 1956, in Spokane, Washington, Mark was the son of Darold Wesley Alexander and Patricia Ann (Snyder) Alexander. He graduated from Marist High School in 1974, attended Oregon State University, and later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University.
Mark built a distinguished career in the wastewater industry, where his intelligence, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting impact. His work led him and his family across the country, living in Washington, Oregon, Missouri, New York, and Florida. The demands of his career also took him around the world, which included several years of work in Sydney, Australia.
In the early 2000s, Mark founded Water Resource Technologies, a sewer pump sales and service company that expanded along the East Coast over the following decade. Colleagues knew him as a respected leader, a skilled problem solver, and someone who approached every challenge with precision and determination. He took genuine pleasure in applying math, logic, and creativity to solve problems both large and small.
That same ingenuity extended well beyond his professional life. An engineer at heart, Mark was known for tackling ambitious home improvement projects. What began as sketches on napkins would evolve into carefully detailed plans and graph paper drawings before becoming reality. Over the years, he designed and built porches, decks, irrigation systems, and even a suspension bridge.
Mark was an avid reader with a particular love for J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In recent years, he found great joy in RV camping and long hikes with his beloved golden retriever, Pippin. He was also passionate about barbecuing and perfecting recipes. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and honoring his late wife by baking Christmas cookies with them every year.
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Noreen Alexander, to whom he was married from 1978 until her untimely passing in 2019; his father, Darold Alexander, who passed away in 2008; and his mother, Patricia Alexander, who passed away in 2020.
He is survived by his children: Connor and Erika Alexander of Centerville, Ohio, and their children, Gwyneth (13) and Wesley (11) Alexander; Brandon Alexander of Middletown, Ohio; and Colleen and Daniel Pastan of Madison, Wisconsin, and their son, Alexander (0.75). He is also survived by his sisters, Christie, Mary, and Julie Alexander, along with many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends will gather for a private memorial service this month. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue, who are assisting in finding a home for Mark’s dog, Pippin.
