Mark David Ebeling, 67 of Kettering, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on August 8, 2026. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 2, 1959 to Harry G. and Martha Bowman Ebeling. Mark attended the Miami Valley School and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1977, where he was a charter member of the South Side Soul Burgers. He attended the University of Cincinnati, graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Arts Fine Arts in 1981 and earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University in 1986.
During his high school and college years, Mark specialized in creating intricate pen and ink drawings of local homes, which were highly sought-after in the Oakwood-Kettering area.
After college, he was an independent painting contractor in Naples, Florida for a few years before establishing his Craftsman House painting and restoration business in the south Dayton area. Mark retired in 2017.
Mark loved the outdoors, especially camping and kayaking with his friends. He was known by his friends for his lifelong loyalty. Mark was a creative photographer, known for haunting images and unusual perspectives.
Mark is survived by his sisters, Leisa (Dr. Jonathan) Lowrey of Jasper, Indiana, and The Very Reverend Amy (Brian) McCreath of Waltham, Massachusetts; nephews Bob (Heather) Lowrey, Thomas Lowrey, Gabriel McCreath and Jamie McCreath; and his dear friend Mary Ann Perez and her daughter Julianne Perez.
A Celebration of life is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harry G. and Martha B. Ebeling Scholarship at Wright State University, 3460 Colonel Glenn Highway, Dayton, OH 45435 or wright.edu/give/ebeling.
