Marnie E.
Moore
March 20, 1947 – April 11, 2026
Moore, Marnie Edward, 79, of Centerville Ohio passed away at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton at 4:11 pm on April 11, 2026. Marnie graduated from high school in The Dalles, Oregon and immediately joined the U.S. Army, serving in Europe attached to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. After returning to Oregon, he married his high school classmate Barbara Williams and began working for NCR in Eugene, Oregon, and attending Lane Community College as well as earning a pilot’s license. His career with NCR took him to the newly created regional accounting office in Santa Rosa, California and in two years to home office in Dayton, Ohio. While in Dayton he continued his education at Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, and pursued numerous development opportunities at NCR. He later founded his own LLC, working with businesses throughout the region. He also taught adjunct computer classes at Sinclair and spent several enjoyable years doing medical transcription.
A man of many interests and talent, Marnie enjoyed flying, motorcycling, camping, music and singing including with the Colonial Chordsmen barbershop group in Dayton, woodworking including membership in Western Ohio Woodworkers, genealogy serving as the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society newsletter editor for several years, gardening, movies, helping neighbors and friends. He remained active through weight training, running, Kaatsu bands, bicycling, golf and especially soccer. Soccer became a passion and a meaningful way to connect with his twin daughters. In the 1970s and 1980s Marnie was very involved in the SAY soccer program in Centerville, coaching numerous teams and later assisting in the girls’ soccer program at Centerville High School. In his later years, Marnie lived with dementia, often recalling most strongly his early years in The Dalles and his army days. He was a gifted storyteller, especially when sharing those memories.
He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Bliss and stepfather John Bliss. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (BJ); twin daughters Jennifer Moran and Angelene Moore; grandchildren Asa Moran and Ruth Moran. The family extends special thanks to friends Dave Billing and Doug Baker who surely welcomed him at the Pearly Gates.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on August 7, 2006, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, with visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. and service at 5 p.m. The family also expresses deep appreciation to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care.
