Martha Lee (McGlinch) Dickey, 87, of CHI St. Leonard’s of Centerville, was reunited with her loving husband of 65 years, Galen Leroy Dickey, at the pearly gates of heaven on July 24, 2025.
She was born at home to Robert and Vergie Lovato (York) McGlinch on March 18, 1938, she grew up in Greenville, OH.
Martha went to Greenville High School where she was active in the Future Homemakers of America. Galen walked Martha home from the roller skating rink one time, and in 1955, at the ripe old ages of 17 and 18, Martha and Galen were married.
In 1955, Galen enlisted in the Air Force and Martha joined him at RAF Stations Sculthorpe, Woodbridge, and Bentwaters (England) in 1956. They returned to Greenville in 1959, where they were active in the Jaycees and the Jaycee-ettes. Martha held several officer positions, including Membership Chairman and President.
Several years after returning to Greenville, they welcomed their son, Gareth (Irene) Dickey (Centerville, OH), and two years later, their daughter Gayle (Rick) Bashor (Lafayette, CO) was born.
Martha was a devoted wife, mother, Grammy to Chris (Samantha) Dickey, Matt Dickey, Michael (Gabi) Dickey, Devin Huston, Ian (Shyanne) Huston, Kaitlyn Huston (Mike Courtright), and great-Grammy to Charlotte, Lucas, Hudson, and Graham Dickey.
In 2004, Galen and Martha built their dream home ion Millwood Village Drive in Clayton, where she resided until 2024. Martha was known for her home cooking, and her interest in a wide variety of crafts. She contributed to several organizations, including the Northmont Thunderbolts, Fairhaven Church, and Englewood United Methodist church.
Galen and Martha took many cruises and traveled to the home of her paternal ancestors in Donegal, Ireland. Martha was passionate about animals all her life, and always had a dog or a cat (or two or four!) to share her love with.
Martha’s family takes comfort in knowing that Galen got to walk his beloved wife home one last time.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29 from 4-4:30pm at Routsong Funeral Home, Centerville (81 N. Main Street), with a service to follow, starting at 4:30pm. Private inurnment at Polk Grove Cemetery.
