Mary Ellen Giambrone

GIAMBRONE, Mary Ellen, age 96, of Kettering, OH, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Mary Ellen was born December 15, 1926 to the late John and Emma (Osterfeld) Breig. One of 12 children, she grew up in a very family-oriented household. She met Harry Giambrone, and the couple married in June of 1950. Together, they had five children, and enjoyed 71 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.

She loved her family deeply, sending cards acknowledging every holiday, birthday, anniversary, or accomplishment to all she knew. Mary Ellen was an excellent cook who kept a neat home. She was always put together, getting her hair done once every week. Mary Ellen was deeply rooted in her faith, attending Mass weekly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry; grandson, Cristian; and sisters, Glenna Breig, Vera Breig, Norma, Breig, Betty Dickson, Agnes Glaser, Anna Mae Edgar, Grace Storer, Sr. Ruth Breig, OSF, and Patty Breig.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Kenneth (Janet) Giambrone, Mark Giambrone, Celeen (Attia) Khrestian, Cynthia Daughtery, and Ron (Mae) Giambrone; grandchildren, Tiffany Sims, Justin and Daniel Whiting, Alexander Khrestian, Maria Zager, Angela Sorbello, Augustino and Trevor Giambrone, and Conner Daughtery; great-grandchildren, Tristin, Jacob, Ellie, Milo, James, and Harry; and sisters, Jo Ritzert and Rita Jane Wilhelm.

Family will greet those who wish to pay their last respects to Mary Ellen Thursday, July 20 from 10:30am-12:00pm at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church’s gathering space in the lower level, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00pm. Mary Ellen will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary Ellen’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
