Mary Ann Hickey

HICKEY, Mary Ann age 98, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Mary Ann was born on March 22, 1928, to the late William and Elizabeth Greishop, in Dayton, OH. She graduated from Julienne High School 1946. After high school she attended Mount St. Joseph University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Dietetics. Mary Ann met her husband Dick through her friendship with Dick’s sister, Kathy. They married in 1951 at Holy Rosary Church. She and Dick built a lifetime of memories over 55 years, and relished time spent with their 8 children and numerous grandchildren along the way. Together they enjoyed following their family from state to state, cheering on the University of Dayton Flyers Basketball Team, and traveling to many locations including Germany, Ireland, Italy, and nearly all 50 states. Mary Ann was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, and chaired the Arts & Environment Committee for a number of years. She was an accomplished artist excelling in many mediums. Mary Ann’s strong-willed and sociable spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Richard Hickey; infant son, Stephen Hickey; and siblings, Celeste, Clete, and Ernest.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Maureen (Jan) Ojdana, Sheila (Dave) Fortunato, Matt (Suzy) Hickey, Kevin Hickey, Cathleen (Kevin Barlow) Hickey, Brian (Kathie) Hickey, Colleen (Joe) Malek; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday April 9, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian burial will be held the following day, Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd. Kettering, OH 45429, at 10:30am, with family greeting friends prior from 10-10:30am. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Charles Borromeo, the University of Dayton Alumni fund, or Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
