It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Nicole Danforth, a beloved mom, wife, daughter, and friend, who left this world on August 27, 2025, at the age of 46. Born on March 30, 1979, Melissa spent her life in and around Greene and Clinton Counties in Ohio, where she made lasting memories and connections with those around her.
Melissa was more than just a gifted Software Engineer with a master’s degree; she was a vibrant force in her community. Her enthusiasm for life was evident in everything she did, from leading the Clinton Massie Schools' Junior High Lacrosse Club as president, to gifting the Maker Space to the Clinton Massie Elementary School and being actively involved with the PTO. She cherished her role as a mom and fully embraced the activities that brought her children joy-whether it was watching her daughter dance and sharing moments at Turn Out Dance Academy, watching her boys compete in athletics, participating in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, or crafting items as the owner of the DH Boutique. She also embraced her role as wife enjoying morning walks or sitting on the back porch in the evenings with Scot. Melissa's love for her family was immeasurable, and her crafting skills were matched only by her creativity and passion for community engagement. Melissa was an amazing, loving, supportive wife, who was the foundation of a loving family and home. She had a strong faith and love of Jesus which she openly shared.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Scot, their three children, Sam, Natalie and Jonathan; parents, Chris and Christine Beam; mother-in-law, Bobbi Danforth; brothers, Damon Senne, Keith (Molly) Beam; sister-in-law, Vicki (Kevin) Flook; brother-in-law, Chris Danforth; Aunt Teresa; dearest friends Wendi Moubray, Lindsey Tucker, Rachel Sneed, Tara Arnold and Ashley Bailey; cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:00am, where family and friends will gather to share their favorite memories, reflect on the impact she made, and honor the beautiful person she was. The visitation for Melissa will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00-8:00pm. The funeral and visitation will be held at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Melissa N. Danforth to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (seaturtlehospital.org) or the Turtle Hatchling’s Rescue on Maui (wildhawaii.org).
In these moments of reflection and remembrance, let us carry forward Melissa's spirit of kindness, connection, and creativity. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
