Michael Douglas Jervis, age 62, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Born in Lincoln, England, Michael was the middle of three boys to parents Alan and Patricia Jervis. He spent much of his early life in England before moving to Northern Ireland at age 31, where he raised a family, worked in a variety of trades, and served honorably with the 7th Battalion in the Royal Irish Regiment, before making the United States his home. Throughout his life, he carried his British roots and heritage with him wherever he went.
Michael was admired for his sharp wit, resilience, and dedication to those he loved. With his British accent, he often sounded like the smartest man in the room, and most of the time he was. He was a walking encyclopedia of history, serious about his martial arts training, boxing, kickboxing, and a lifelong die-hard fan of Everton Football Club.
Professionally, Michael was a highly regarded and indispensable member of Cornerstone Controls Inc., where he spent the last seven years as Operations Manager of Mechanical Services following ten years at Dayton Precision Services. He was well-versed and respected in his specialty areas, and colleagues said you couldn’t ask for a better mate.
Michael was a devoted member of Dayton Bujinkan Dojo, where his passion for Budo Taijutsu inspired those around him. Training several times a week, he was working toward his black belt at the time of his passing. His devotion to both his family and his training was an inspiration to all who knew him. Known for his easy way with people, Michael could strike up a conversation with anyone, and his laughter could fill a room and lift every spirit in it.
He is survived by his wife, Lorelei, and her children, Harold and Zafirah; his mother, Patricia; his sons, Thomas (Ariana) of the United States and Harry (Erin) of Northern Ireland; four beloved grandchildren: Alexa, Hallie, Kaiden, and Kaia; two brothers, Richard and Stephen (Sue); and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan; his maternal grandparents, Violet and George “Grand-Pop” Shenton; and his paternal uncle, Howard.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio, with funeral services to follow the next day at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
Michael leaves behind countless stories, laughter, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
