Miriam J. Marshall

January 1, 1928 — October 28, 2022

MARSHALL, Miriam J., age 94, of Centerville, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard; daughter, Beverly; son, Timothy; parents, Ruth and Chester Watts; sisters, Angela Thornton and Ruth Marshall; brother, Bertrand Watts. She is survived by her daughters, Michele (Dr. Michael) Brown and Linda (Jerry) Hoke; son, Robert; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Brown, Dr. Matt (Dr. Lindsay) Brown, Mark (Angie) Brown, Lauren Hoke, and Zachary (Ericha) Hoke; great grandchildren, Braden and Addison Brown and Archie and Aiden Hoke, and many nieces and nephews. 


Miriam attended Holy Angels Elementary and graduated from Julienne High School in 1945. She was employed as an artist at Stanley Greeting Card Co., as well as the Metropolitan Clothing Store. She was a past member of Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus and sung in several other quartets, as well as a past member of the celebration choir at St. Charles Church. She enjoyed the grandchildren’s activities, especially the grandsons’ sports events, and her granddaughter’s band concerts, as well as many backyard family barbeques. Miriam also enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband, especially the fresh water lakes of northern Florida. She celebrated her January 1st birthday with her high school group for 50 years. Her sweetness and beautiful smile will be missed by all friends and family. The family would like to thank the compassionate and professional care she received from Hospice and Fairmont Assisted Living of Washington Township (previously Brighton Gardens). 


Family will received friends from 9:30am-10:30am Friday, November 4 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo 4500 Ackerman Blvd. Miriam will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Miriam’s name to St. Vincent’s Hotel, Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, or Friends of the Castle, 133 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459.
