Obituary

The family of Mischel “Misch” Candid Lacy, age 36, of Dayton, is profoundly heartbroken to announce her passing on Thursday, August 13, 2026, after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born on April 2, 1990, in Kettering, Ohio, to her parents, Marc Alan and Melissa Colette Lacy. Mischel spent her final days surrounded by her loving family, loyal friends, and her beloved cat, Vader.

Mischel attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School, Beavercreek and Huber Heights public schools before graduating from ECOT High School. While in high school, she participated in a business program through Wright State University. She later studied business and interior design at Sinclair College in Dayton.

Mischel pursued a business career with PNC Mortgage and the Hamilton County Auditor’s Office in Cincinnati. She had planned to pursue a home inspector license this year. She fulfilled her creative and design talents as a floral designer and event planner. Her love of people and celebrations led her to become a bartender in the Oregon District and throughout Dayton. With her generous heart, Mischel organized countless events and fundraisers for friends and patrons.

Above all, Mischel was a beautiful, loving daughter and sister. She was independent but loved company. She loved deeply but was spicy when necessary. She loved spending time with her family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. She shared music with her brother, enjoyed movie nights with her mom and dinners with her dad, loved visiting with her grandmothers, treasured conversations with Aunt Marcia and appreciated the dry humor of Uncle Alex. Mischel loved her social life, music and live bands, cooking, gardening, adventures and travel. She loved animals, particularly dogs and cats. She enjoyed visiting pet stores just to hold the puppies, wishing to adopt them all.

Mischel cherished her community of loyal and beautiful friends, who were an extension of her family. She brought people together with warmth, generosity, humor, and a love for celebration. The memories they created through music, laughter, gatherings, and adventures will remain a lasting part of her legacy. Misch will forever be a legend in our town and in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Bud & Linda Berry, Uncle Scott Berry, paternal grandparents Roy & Joyce Lacy, Aunt Tina Lacy-Salyer, Uncle Tim Lacy, and cousin Dane Wourms; and her beloved dogs, Mikey, Isis and Grimes. She is survived by her parents, Marc and Melissa Lacy; her brother, Marc Anthony Lacy; her godparents, great-aunt Marcia and great-uncle Alex Anderson; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her beloved cat Vader.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 p.m on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 p.m. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Mischel’s closest friends, who supported her and remained by her side during her final days. Flowers may be sent to Routsong Funeral Home at the address listed above. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.routsong.com.
