With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nancy Jane (nee Thomas) Coffler, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on August 5, 1948, Nancy’s life was filled with joy, love, and an unwavering generous spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Nancy's early years began in Oxford, Mississippi; then establishing her strongest roots in Holly Springs, graduated from Holly High. Nancy had a determined work ethic, earning her Bachelor of Science in Special Education and her Master of Science degree in Counseling while working and raising a family. This educational journey not only empowered her, but also equipped her to offer guiding wisdom and support to countless individuals throughout her life.
Nancy had an infectious, positive attitude that impacted our lives significantly. She was thoughtful and giving of herself and her time. She always baked delicious treats and meals for loved ones and her southern hospitality created a vibrant atmosphere wherever she went. Nancy never met a stranger. She delighted in her neighbors and was dubbed “the granny in the hood” to the young people around her, especially Grace and Faith. Having a deep care for young people, her career peaked as a high school counselor for ‘at risk’ youth. Nancy was a huge football fan. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and we all loved going to her house for a relaxing family time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, KB Thomas, Ezsma (nee Pipkin) Thomas, sister, Sheila (nee Thomas) Burnett in 2013 and devoted husband, Ronald S. Coffler in 2016. Nancy is survived by her dearest family: siblings Douglas H. Coffler (Kara), Joanna B. Coffler and Holly M. Fernando (Shaminda); her cherished grandchildren, Samantha and Jocelyn Coffler, Elaina and Emma Jane Fernando; dear sister, Patricia (nee Thomas) Arnett, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Each of them carries her spirit forward, holding onto the treasured moments spent together.
An informal gathering of family & friends is planned Saturday, July 19, 2025, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 190 East College Avenue, Holly Springs, MS.
