Jones, Penelope Sue, age 85 of Kettering, OH passed away on Tuesday October 6th, 2026. Penelope was born on February 11, 1941 in Dayton, OH to the late William and Sophia Wilmer and was a graduate of Stebbins High School.
Penny was a true adventurer in her wheelchair - she could cover the entire county in a day. Her love of animals also found her bringing home any stray animal in need of a loving home. There was always a houseful of her beloved pets. You could often find Penny watching her soap operas and Hallmark movies with a cat on her lap, a bird on her shoulder, or a dog at her feet. Above all, her biggest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them and baking with her granddaughter, Rheanne.
She is preceded in death by husband of 60 years, David Lee Jones, as well as brothers-in-law Tom Boatright and Wayne Norvell. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Brenda Jones and her children, including her favorite grandson Brayden and granddaughter Rheanne Jones; daughter, Debra Purdy and her children, Samantha (Zachary) Gray, Peach and Mikenzie Purdy; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Scarlett, and Nora Gray; sisters, Billie (John) Nelson, Pam (Tom) Erickson, and Lavon Norvell; sister-in-law Sherry Logan, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00pm, with visitation starting at 5:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home (2100 E. Stroop Rd).
Penny’s family would like to extend a special thank you for the compassionate care and support provided by Hospice of Dayton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SICSA or any local rescues.
