HARTMAN, Richard Jerome “Dick”, age 90, of Miami Township, OH passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 with Cheryl, his wife of 40 years by his side. Dick was born on September 20, 1933 to the late Alice (Feeney) and Jerome Long Hartman in Altoona, PA.
He graduated from Altoona Catholic High School in 1951 and John Carroll University in 1955. Dick’s 30 year career in medical sales and marketing took him to Kansas City, MO where he met and married Cheryl. He was president and owner of HealthCare Recruiters of Southwest Ohio before retiring in 1998. Dick and Cheryl enjoyed travel, especially in their RV where their trusted furry companions, Yuri and Sisco, could join them. Enjoying a sunset or a campfire with a glass of wine was the perfect summer evening. Dick will be remembered as a kind and loyal friend, devoted husband, and a loving father, grandfather, and uncle.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Jerome Hartman; siblings, Jerome Long Hartman Jr., Elwood (Helen) Hartman, Charlotte Hartman, Sister Mary Colette Hartman; nephews, Donny Hartman, Michael Hartman, and Bobby Hartman; and the mother of his children, Rita Hartman.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Hartman; children, Sean (Jenny) Hartman, Renee (John) Vengilio; step-daughter, Jill (Pat) Pink; grandchildren, Mark and Steven Hartman (fiancée, Hannah Carter) and their mother and brother, Beth and Sam Horvath, Hannah Hartman, Luciana Vengilio, John Jerome Vengilio; step-grandchildren, James Pink, Samantha Pink, and Alexandra Pink; nephews, Jerry Hartman and Dicky Hartman; nieces, Alice Hafner, Charlotte Weber, and Carol (John) Kraemer; and best friend, Dr. Bill O’Brien.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sisters of St. Agnus (320 Co Rd K., Fond du Lac, WI 54937), the Humane Society of Dayton (1661 Nicholas Rd., Dayton, OH 45417), or a charity of your choice.
A Mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, March 4 at St. Henry Catholic Church, (6696 N. Springboro Pike, Miami Township, OH 45449). An offsite luncheon will follow. A Mass will be held at the same time in Nicaragua by Sister Annabel Torres to celebrate both Dick and Sister Mary Colette. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
