Richard Douglas Ward

Richard Douglas Ward, age 70 of Columbus and formerly of Dayton, passed away on June 8, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1955 to parents Babe L. and Dorothea M. (Shields) Ward. He was a kind and gentle soul with a playful sense of humor. He loved collecting Hot Wheels cars and enjoyed the company of other humans and animals.

He is preceded in death by Babe and Anne Ward, Dorothea and Kenny Hull, and his sister, Rebecca L. Ward.

Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his brother, Don (Patty) Ward, and nephew and niece Johnathan and Julia Ward.

The family would like to thank the staff at Columbus Developmental Center for the loving care they provided to Richard over the years.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Routsong Funeral Home (2100 E. Stroop Rd) on Monday, June 15th from 3:00-5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at St. Joseph Catholic Church (411 E. 2nd St) at 10:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Woodland Cemetery (118 Woodland Ave).
