Ricky Lawrence Huffstetler, age 62, was a loving and caring father, husband, son, brother, and friend. As vast as these roles were that he filled, he filled all of them to the best of his ability. He spent much of his life dedicated to aircraft. He entered the world of flying at 16 when he attained his private pilot’s license. Ricky was a 1982 graduate of Mount Juliet High School in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where he played football and excelled in academics. He had a full academic scholarship and graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University in 1986 with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. He received his masters in aeronautical engineering from the University of Dayton.
Ricky played a major role at NASIC at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, where he spent 39 years, winning many awards for his work. The intelligence work he did is not lost on those that knew him and worked with him. He loved the Air Force and was proud of the work that he did. The work he did allowed him to travel all over the world and allowed him to see many beautiful parts of the world.
Ricky had a sense of humor like no other. He was able to turn any situation into a funny anecdote no matter what it was. His ability to think logically and clearly to fix almost any problem was beyond comprehension. He was a problem solver, and solving problems is what he did best. Ricky had an avid love for nature and traveled many places where he knew nature was abundant.
He is survived by his wife Lauralee Marie Mullikin, daughter, Morgan Susannah Huffstetler, son, Garrett Cole Huffstetler, brother, Marlon Huffstetler (Ginger) and two stepdaughters, Elizabeth and Caroline Petree.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ronald and Peggy Huffstetler and grandparents, Clarance and Minnie Huffstetler and Ted and Maxine Beckwith.
