Robert "Bob" Lee Scott, II

Robert "Bob" Lee Scott II, 68 (June 8, 1958 - August 11, 2026), a devoted husband, father, grandfather, public servant, coach and friend, passed away on Aug. 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a man whose life was defined by service, generosity and an unwavering commitment to his community and country.

Bob was the beloved husband to the love of his life, Letty Scott. Together they built a family grounded in love and dedication to others. He was a proud and loving father to Rob Scott, Sarah (Trent) and Lauren (Seth), and a cherished grandfather to Brayden, Jax, Lucas and Annie, who brought immense joy to his life.

Bob grew up in the Southern Hills neighborhood in Kettering, going to Kettering City Schools graduating from Kettering Fairmont High School West in 1976. A lifelong resident and passionate advocate for the City of Kettering, Bob believed deeply in the power of community. Kettering was more than his hometown — it was his calling. He dedicated countless hours to making his city a better place through service, mentorship and leadership. Bob credited his success in life to Kettering City Schools, the teachers whom had major impact on his life and the work study program at Fairmont West.

His professional life spanned more than four decades decades in aerospace wire and cable. He rose through the ranks of Astro Industries to become General Manger, then becoming Product Manager for the A.E. Petsche Co., then to BJG Electronics becoming Senior Product Manager, then becoming a business development manager and owning his own business Scott Associates LLC. Bob finally allowed himself to retire earlier this summer.

Bob also loved playing basketball throughout his life continuing to play until his passing. He was a faithful fan of his Kettering Fairmont Firebirds, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was known for his vast knowledge of historical facts and his tenacious wit and humor.

He coached young athletes through the Kettering Recreation Center including his own children and grandchildren, helping generations of children learn teamwork, discipline and confidence. He officiated basketball games, volunteered through the Kettering Dor-Wood Optimist Club and gave freely of his time whenever help was needed. His commitment to public service led him to serve six years on Kettering City Council, where he worked tirelessly to strengthen the community he loved.

Whether he was on a basketball court, at a city meeting, volunteering at a community event or simply offering advice to a friend, Bob approached every opportunity with kindness, humility and a servant's heart. He believed that the measure of a life was not what one received, but what one gave back.

To his family, Bob was much more than a public servant. He was a source of wisdom, strength and encouragement. He was the person everyone called for advice, the steady hand in difficult times and the loudest supporter in moments of celebration. His grandchildren knew him as a loving and engaged grandfather, always ready with a smile, a story or a word of encouragement.

Bob's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the young people he mentored, the community he helped build and the family he loved so deeply.

He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, humor and unwavering devotion to his family and community. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his example will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Linet Scott and Robert Lee Scott I, and his sister Debra Tauber. He is survived by his wife, Letty; his children, Robert (Rob) Lee Scott III, Sarah (Trent) and Lauren (Seth); his grandchildren, Brayden, Jax, Lucas and Annie; and many extended family members, friends, neighbors and community members whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

A celebration of Bob's life will be at Routsong Funeral Home , 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 for a public viewing from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with funeral services from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. presided by Pastor Josiah Kagin of Grace Baptist Church of Kettering.
