Roger L. Kaltenbach

April 30, 1935 — March 13, 2024

Washington Twp.

KALTENBACH, Roger L., age 88, of Washington Twp., passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Hospice of Dayton. Roger was born on April 30, 1935, in a house on Kennedy Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. Story goes he was so tiny he fit in a shoebox and the doctor said he wouldn’t give a quarter for him.

All that changed. Roger was a proud 1953 graduate of Stivers High School. Following graduation, he started his career with NCR, becoming an accomplished toolmaker, tool designer, and sales engineer. After 24 years with NCR, he and his wife Susan started Kaltenbach & Associates, a successful Manufacturer’s Rep firm which he operated until his retirement. Roger loved boating on Lake Cumberland and the Ohio River, vacationing on Siesta Key, attending UD basketball games, watching the Bengals, working in the yard, solving problems, and fixing things. Roger was a member of Normandy Church, Alpha Lodge No. 729, Scottish Rite, Antioch Shrine, and the Dayton Agonis Club.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Madeline R. (Cadot) Kaltenbach; daughter, Karen Sue Kaltenbach; sister, Patricia and brother-in-law, Bernard Ampe, and brother-in-law, Thomas Nugent. Roger is survived by the best family ever: Susan, the love of his life and wife of 47 years; devoted daughter, Paula J. and very special son-in-law, Timothy A. Henry of Miamisburg, Ohio; grandson, Timothy P., and his wife Dr. Jacqueline Severt Henry; great-grandson, Nolan Henry and sweet Dora all of Dublin, Ohio; his sister, Gwen Nugent; brother-in-law, Richard (Marlene) Pitner, and nieces Rochelle and Ricca all of Pennsylvania; extended family Anne Pitner, Jennie Pitner, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Carder, many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Bill McLaughlin and neighbor Josh Bargmeyer, with whom he had special memories watching him grow up.

Family will greet friends from 5-7pm with Masonic services starting at 5pm on Monday Mar 18 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday Mar 19 at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Alex Bell Rd., Dayton, OH 45459.
