Roger was born on August 16, 1947, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Jack D. and Judith (Berg) McIntyre. He grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Bishop Luers High School before attending Indiana University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
Following college, Roger moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he began his professional career with United Airlines. He later pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by starting a coffee company. In 1993, Roger relocated with his family to the Dayton area, where he would spend the next three decades building both his career and deep community ties.

Roger had a deep love for sports. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals, and, most especially, his beloved Indiana Hoosiers. A passionate golfer, he was a longtime member of the Country Club of the North and proudly earned the title of club champion in 1996. He was also actively involved in his children’s many athletic pursuits and rarely missed a game or event.
Roger will be remembered for his quick wit, warm personality, and natural ability to connect with others. His outgoing and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roger is survived by his sons, Jack, Ben, and Sam McIntyre; the mother of his children, Sally McIntyre; his sister, Mary McIntyre; his step-sister Laura; his step-brother, Jeffrey; and numerous extended family members and friends.
