Ronald Scott Logan

December 21, 1952 — September 4, 2025

Oakwood, OH

LOGAN, Ronald “Scott” age 72, of Oakwood, OH passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, after a hard fought battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on December 21, 1952, in Dayton, OH to the late Ronald and Patsy Logan. Scott was an Oakwood man through and through, attending Oakwood K-12 and graduating from Oakwood High School. He continued his education between Colorado and Ohio before earning his B.A. in Philosophy. While working on his masters degree, he loved being a teaching assistant in his program at the University of Dayton. Scott ended up back “under the dome” with his beloved wife Bobbie, where they raised their two children. Scott was a jack of all trades and master of many, and kept reinventing himself to suit his career. He wore many hats in his work life and he particularly had fun owning and operating his own candy company, The Buckeye Tree. Scott also enjoyed his years with AT&T and his stint as a substitute teacher at Fairmont High School during the sunset of his career.

Scott had numerous interests throughout his life including cooking, music, advocating for animals, and being a mentor to kids. His greatest joy was spending time with his family (especially his 3 grandkids) over an expertly prepared meal. Scott earned his Eagle Scout and then paid it forward by serving as a boy scout leader and elementary school coach for his son, Alex. He never met an animal that he didn’t love and could not pick a favorite among all of the family’s dogs. He experienced great joy from caring for so many dogs throughout the years. Some of Scott’s best moments and most cherished memories were made with his daughter Alicia’s family between Atlanta and his happy place, the family condo at Innisbrook/Clearwater Beach, Florida. During his battle with cancer, his nephew Rob took him on the trip of a lifetime to the Vegas Sphere to see his favorite band since college, The Grateful Dead. Scott's exceptionally caring and selfless character made him the ultimate caretaker of his family. He was the world’s greatest listener which made him a confidante to many. He gave good counsel through his witty observations and advice. He was always there for and devoted to his loved ones, especially as he took care of his wife through a difficult and long illness. Scott showed his love through cooking, getting great satisfaction out of making his relative’s favorite foods or preparing a gourmet meal for a sick friend. Scott’s family and friends are truly heartsick over his passing but the profound impact he had on all of their lives will live on forever. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald George Logan and Patsy Jean (Dyer) Logan.

Scott is survived by his loving wife Roberta “Bobbie” Logan; his cherished children, Alicia (Paul) Monnin of Atlanta, GA and Alex Logan of Los Angeles, CA; adored grandchildren, Merryn (Land) Wright, Jenna Patsy Monnin and John Paul Monnin; special sister-in-law, Gwen Geist; nephew, Robert Geist III; niece, Collette (Todd) Atha; great-niece and great-nephew, Kemper and Kendall Atha; brother, Stuart (Phoebe Schlanger) Logan; sister, Alison (John Bremser) Logan; niece and nephew, Henry Logan Schlanger and Brit Bremser; and numerous friends who have become like family, in particular Marsha and David Flannery and Ann and Warner Simpson.

A visitation will be held from 12-1pm, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429, with a service at 1pm, and a reception to follow.
