SLANKER, Ronald L. age 85, of Kettering, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Dayton, OH to the late Howard H. and Freda (Brenner) Slanker. He graduated from Greenbrier Military School, in Lewisburg, WV, in 1959 and attended The Ohio State University. Ron returned to the Dayton area and in 1963 married his longtime friend and childhood neighbor, Judy Moorhead. He was employed by Slanker Bros, Inc. and later founded ICAM in 1978, where he remained president until 2003. Ron was a Mason and a member of Dayton Lodge #147 (formerly George L. Marshall Lodge), Dayton AASR, and Antioch Shrine, where he made numerous friends over the years. He belonged to the Dayton Tooling and Manufacturing Assoc. and Dayton Rotary. Ron had numerous hobbies and passions throughout his life including boating, flying, snowmobiling, and spending time in the U.P. of Michigan, which he eagerly shared with his grandchildren. Ron never met a stranger and for decades was known for sending hundreds of Happy Birthday wishes each year to family, friends, business associates, & acquaintances. His passionate and fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy Slanker; daughters, Becky Slanker and Jennifer (Dan) Kane; triplet grandchildren, Emma, Daniel, and Alec Kane; sister, Sue Kiebler; and numerous extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429. A funeral will be held at 11am the following day, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, with visitation an hour prior from 10-11am. Burial in David’s Cemetery, Kettering. Ron’s family would like to thank Dr. Barry Taylor, Dr. Greg Berlet, Dr. Katelyn Booher, Dr. Michael Johnson, Brian Weaver at American Orthopedics, Donna, Naoka, and Adam with Touching Hearts at Home, and Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer’s Association.
