Ruth Virginia Schryver

died Saturday, November 18, 2000. Ruth was a generous, dynamic, and loving mother who will be missed by family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Prior to raising a family, she was the national sales manager for Elizabeth Arden of New York City. As Ruth was raising 4 sons, she was involved in many activities including: Boy Scouts, Easter Seals, Dayton Art Institute, Friday Afternoon Club and Dayton Women's Club. In 1967 she and her husband Daniel A. moved to Laguna Beach, CA., where she became the Managing Director of the Laguna Moulton Playhouse and helped bring the theater into prominence. Ruth was also the President of The Assistance League of Laguna Beach, where she founded the Town Hall Lecture Series and secured the donations for the Assistance League office building, constructed in 1975. She was a member of the Board of Directors of South Coast Medical Center, on the Board of Directors of the Laguna Art Museum, and helped organize the South Vietnamese Refugee Relocation Program in 1974. Preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. in 1985; and 2 brothers, Chester and Joseph Huff. Survived by 4 sons, Ward and his wife Sue, of Ann Arbor, MI; Craig of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Eric and his wife Sue, of Dayton, OH; and Alan of Laguna Beach, CA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 1, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave, Father John F. Koepke III officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Cloister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lt. John C. White Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Jeff Kunst, 215 Maple Street, Centerville, OH 45459, or your favorite charity.
