Oakwood

BARTUSCH, Sara “Jane” (Quakenbush), 75, of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024.  Jane was born March 8th, 1948, in Fountain City, Indiana to the late Cloyce and Myra Quakenbush.

Jane earned her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her Masters degree from the University of Dayton. She began her career at Toledo Medical Center, before moving to the Dayton area. She taught young children at several locations, including South Park Pre-school, before taking the role as volunteer coordinator at Dayton Children’s Medical Center.

Jane and her husband of 51 years, Robert “Bob”, owned and managed the Stockyards Inn for over 30 years. Even after it’s closing, the restaurant continues to be a great place of stories, memories and laughter for so many of their friends and family.

Jane was an avid lover of dogs and turned this passion into a small dog sitting business. She had a number of loyal customers who would trust no one but Jane to care for their pup.

Jane had many lifelong friends, including her “Fountain City Girls” who have remained in touch since pre-school and continued to take a trip together every year. She was a faithful friend and mother, always finding the positive in a person or situation.

Family & Friends are invited to gather from 10am to 12 noon, March 2nd at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429 where the funeral service will begin at 12noon.  Jane will be laid to rest Sunday, March 3rd at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville, Indiana, near her parents and brother Bobby.

Jane is survived by her sons, Robert Joseph Bartusch III and Jeffrey T. (wife, Caitlin), her brother, Charles “Charlie” Quakenbush, and her grandchildren, Amelia and Jeffrey “Alex” Bartusch, her dog, Mia, and numerous cousins and friends. She will be greeted with a heavenly embrace by her late husband, Robert Bartusch II (D.2021), her parents, Cloyce and Myra Quakenbush and her Brother Robert “Bobby” Quakenbush.
