Sharon Ann Lowry

It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Sharon Ann Lowry, age 81, of Centerville, Ohio, who left this world on July 21, 2026. Sharon was born in Akron, Ohio, and was a beloved educator, public servant, and devoted community leader whose life was marked by faith, service, and deep commitment to others.

Sharon graduated from Ellet High School in Akron in 1963 and later earned her Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master of Education from Wright State University. She devoted her career to education, serving as a teacher, administrator, and Assistant Superintendent of Great Oaks JVS. Through her work, she helped shape and inspire countless students, colleagues, and families.

Her service to the community was equally remarkable. Sharon began her first term as a Washington Township Trustee in 2018 and served the township with distinction in multiple leadership roles, including Trustee President in 2020 and 2022 and Vice President in 2019, 2021, 2024, and 2026. In that role, she gave significant time and energy to the residents of Washington Township and the City of Centerville, always working for the betterment of the community she loved.

Sharon was also deeply involved in civic and charitable work throughout the Dayton area. She served as chairperson of the Centerville Women’s Civic Club Scholarship Committee, was a board member of Sophie’s Companions for Veterans, and also served on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton and the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. For two years, she co-chaired the Nike Dayton Open at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace, and she was also a past member of Optimist International and Rotary International.

A devout member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, Sharon served as an elder and found strength and purpose in her faith. Her life reflected quiet generosity, steadfast leadership, and a sincere desire to lift up those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, grace, and enduring dedication to her family, church, and community.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert “Bob” Lowry; her daughter, Melissa Lowry of Springboro; her son, Jeffrey (Jill) Lowry of Centerville; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Wesley, Zachary, Foster, Tressa, and Michael; and her sister, Judy Felix. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Althea Joyner, and her brother John Joyner.

In honor of Sharon, the family will hold a visitation at Routsong Funeral Home Centerville (81 N. Main Street) on August 7, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at Southminster Presbyterian Church on August 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow at NCR Country Club, where family and friends will gather to share their memories and celebrate her life.
