Obituary

Shirley Jean (Holden) Feverston

January 2, 1934-June 24, 2026

It is with love and remembrance that we celebrate the life of a beloved woman who passed at the age of 92.

Born on January 2, 1934, Shirley grew up with strong Midwestern roots and graduated from Loveland High School in 1952, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by hard work, creativity, and devotion to family.

Her first job was working alongside her uncle at Bolser’s Hi-Boy, where she learned the value of dedication and services. She later worked at Elder-Beerman in Centerville, where she remained until her retirement.

A gifted and skilled seamstress, she found joy and purpose in sewing. From 1973-1977, she lovingly sewed and altered uniforms for the Centerville Coeds, leaving behind not only her craftsmanship but also a lasting legacy of care and precision.

She was a devoted mother to four children, and a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and her love extended through generations with warmth and steady support.

In her later years, she enjoyed simple pleasures and companionship, including playing Bingo and Rummikub at her home at Brookdale of Kettering, where she was surrounded by community and care.

She is also remembered for her time spent at Loveland High School and for the friendships and memories formed throughout her working years and retirement.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff, caregivers, and friends at Brookdale of Kettering for their kindness, compassion, and the love shown to her.

Along with her parents, Charles and Mildred (Donaldson) Holden, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bill Allen Feverston.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Dana) Bales, Steve (Diane) Feverston, Debra (Loyd) Crump, and Lori (Bill) Marks; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Family will greet friends Tuesday, July 7 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81. N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, services will be livestreamed on Routsong Funeral Home’s YouTube page. Shirley will be laid to rest in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
