Stephen M. Spraley

Stephen M. Spraley, age 72 of Kettering, Ohio passed away August 11, 2025.

Stephen was born in Dayton, Ohio May 11, 1953 to Clement F. “Bud” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Gulyas) Spraley. He graduated from Archbishop Alter High School in 1971. He joined Dayton Local Plumber and Pipefitters UA 162 shortly after high school. Stephen was a certified welder, pipefitter and HVAC technician.

He enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 50 states. He often reminisced about his road trip out west with his brother Bill. He was a member of the Dayton Canoe Club and worked at the Dayton Peace Museum. Stephen was a spirited conversationalist well versed in many topics including his Hungarian heritage and cuisine. He loved living life to the fullest, keeping his friends and family on their toes especially during his long-haired mountain man phase.

Stephen was preceded in death by his brother William, his mother Betty, his father Bud and brother George.

He is survived by his sisters Dianne M. Provenza (Salvatore) and Frances A. Najar (George) and his brother David A. Spraley (Diane), aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.

Inurnment with the Catholic Rite of Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery on Friday, August 15th, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
