Steven Leonard Frantz, age 75, of Centerville, Ohio, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
A Dayton native, Steve was born on May 15, 1950, to the late Cyril and Helena Frantz. He proudly grew up in Versailles with his brother Mike where he developed his family values and strong work ethic, which he embodied throughout his life. After graduating from Versailles High School in 1968, Steve continued his education at Wright State University, earning his Bachelor degree in Accounting. He had an affinity for numbers, but couldn’t have calculated a chance meeting with his future wife at a University of Dayton party that would grace the rest of his life with love, children, and grandchildren. Steve married Patricia Schlater on October 5, 1974 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Centerville, Ohio. In the coming years, they would be blessed with three children, Kevin, David and Michelle. Steve flourished in his career at Miami Valley Hospital, retiring as Vice President of Finance.
Of all his life’s accomplishments, Steve was most proud of his family. He found joy in attending his children's and grandchildren’s sporting events, vacationing together, boating, and soaking in sunsets by the lake. Above all, he cherished simply being present with them.
Steve will be remembered as a kind and caring man with a great sense of humor and someone that was genuinely interested in everyone he met. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife of over fifty years, Patricia; their three children, Kevin (Melissa) Frantz, David (Sarah) Frantz, and Michelle (Christopher) Cook; grandchildren, Connor, Logan and Liliana Frantz, Mason and Avery Frantz, and Aiden and Chloe Cook; brother, Michael (Tanya) Frantz; Sister Donna Liette; and a host of treasured brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Steve’s family welcomes friends to gather at Routsong Funeral Home (2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429) Monday evening, July 28, from 6:00-8:00pm, to share memories and condolences. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 29, at 10:30am at Saint Francis of Assisi (6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459). All are welcome to gather an hour before mass, beginning at 9:30am, to greet and support Steve’s family. The Rite of Committal will follow the mass, as Steve is laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery (1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton, OH 45409).
