Lambert, Steven G, age 75, of Dayton, OH passed away Monday, February 27, 2023. Steve was born in Hartford City, Indiana in 1947 to Gene & Lena Lambert. He was a graduate of Eaton high school in 1966 and graduated from Purdue University in 1971.
Steve wore many hats over his long standing career in the golf industry. He was a Golf Professional in and around the Dayton area for over 35 years. Steve had quite a few memorable accomplishments during this time, including the development of some major golf courses from the ground up which include, Shaker Run, Beavercreek golf club, Yankee Trace and Walden Pond. Steve was the Director of Golf at NCR Country Club during one of the largest tournaments in the area, the 2005 US Senior Open. Steve received many accolades throughout his career including the 2000 Bill Strausbaugh Award for Community Relations and the 2005 SOPGA Golf Professional of the year. He ended his career as a lifetime PGA member. In addition, he owned and operated several golf clubs in the area such as Moss Creek Golf Club, Shaker Run Golf Club, and most recently opened Graywolf Golf Course during his “semi-retirement.”
Steve enjoyed playing golf with his family at NCR Country Club, spending time with his children, grandchildren, his dogs Sophie and Arnie and traveling with his wife, Lisa. Steve, also known as Dad/Chops/Papaw/BDDFC, will be greatly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents Gene & Lena Lambert. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Nueslein Lambert; siblings: Janet Rogers, Bill Lambert (Amy) and Tony Lambert (Renee); children: Tim Lambert (Kim), Ted Lambert, Tom Lambert (Lourdes), Stephanie Al-Hamdani (Haider), Morgan Nueslein, Nick Nueslein (Allison), and Madeline Nueslein; Grandchildren: Taylor Lambert, Palmer Lambert, Bryce Lambert, Nicklaus Lambert, Isa Lambert, Chase Lambert, Gabi Lambert, Zaide Al-Hamdani, Zayna Al-Hamdani and Natalie Nueslein; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will begin receiving visitors at 11:30 AM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 North Main Street, Centerville, OH on Friday, March 3, 2023 with a prayer service from 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM.
