Susan R. Fouty

FOUTY, Susan R., age 78, of Centerville, OH, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Sue was born on March 24, 1948, in Dayton, OH to the late Estil and Fern Winters. She grew up in New Carlisle and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1966, before earning her RN nursing certificate through Riverside Methodist White Cross School of Nursing. Sue had a long and distinguished career in nursing, and served for 47 years, primarily at Grandview and Southview Hospitals, in labor and delivery. She met the love of her life, Larry Fouty, at "The Library", later marrying in 1973, before starting their family. Sue was a long-time member of Living Hope Church in Centerville, where she led Bible study for many years. There she was a friend to all and was well known for her welcoming and loving personality. Throughout her life Sue was an avid reader, antique collector, and small business entrepreneur. She could often be found in attendance at every marching band competition, sporting event, and recital for her family. Truly family was the most important thing in her life, and she relished every moment she was able to spend with them. Sue will be remembered as someone you could always talk to, no matter if it was nursing advice or questions about the Bible. Her faithful and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Larry Fouty; brother, Reed "Buster" Winters; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Melanie Miller) Fouty; daughters, Michelle (Glen) Shelley and Laura Asher; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Yelsaveta Asher, Mia, Hannah, Cara, Brady, Malachi, Lily, and Elijah Shelley; great-granddaughters, Evangeline Wallace and Gracie Harmon; and numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459. A funeral service will be held at 10am, the following day, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Living Hope Church, 1150 W Spring Valley Pike, Centerville, OH 45458.
