Teri Hyland, age 72 of Dayton, formerly of Hollywood, FL passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. She was born July 20, 1953 to Forest and Rita Hyland and grew up in Centerville with her two brothers and two sisters.
Teri graduated from Centerville High School in 1971. Upon moving to Florida, Teri attended Florida International College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education. She taught at Seagull School and South Plantation High School, where she touched the lives of hundreds of students. She was also a former member of the Broward Teacher’s Union.
Teri loved teaching, reading, helping others, her dogs, and most importantly, her son. She loved fiercely and unconditionally. As a staunch political debater, she never walked away from a stranger without making a friend. Teri was also an expert fashionista, dressing to impress for any occasion.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her dogs Toto, Spunky, Pepe, and Bella. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Kris Hyland (Scott Przybylski); brothers, Forest Hyland and Jim (Sheila) Hyland; sisters, Jackie (Michael) Toombs and Joanne Hyland (Tom Hendrickson); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends and family will gather for a Celebration of Teri’s life on Saturday, May 23rd at Routsong Funeral Home (2100 E. Stroop Rd) from 5-8pm, with a sharing of memories beginning at 6pm.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Kettering Health Intensive Care Unit and Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care for both Teri and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or SICSA.
