Timothy John Jewett

July 19, 1956 — February 28, 2026

Bellbrook

Timothy “Tim” John Jewett, of Bellbrook, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1956, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, New York, to John “Jack” Jewett and Joyce Jewett.

Tim graduated with honors from Linton High School in 1974 and soon after proudly answered the call to serve his country. From 1974 to 1980, he served in the United States Navy as a Fire Control Technician (FT) aboard the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640). His years in the Navy shaped his strong sense of discipline, loyalty, and quiet patriotism — qualities he carried with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Tim began a long and successful career with NCR Corporation, where he worked from 1980 until 2011 as a Software Developer and Senior Systems Analyst. From 2012 until his passing, he continued doing the work he loved as a Senior Software Developer with CommSys, Inc. Tim was known for his sharp mind, steady work ethic, and willingness to help others solve even the toughest problems.

Outside of work, Tim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer, a devoted bowler, and a fierce competitor at the dartboard. He took pride in being a “professional DIYer,” always ready with a tool in hand and a project in mind. He also loved collecting movies and could often be found sharing a favorite film with family.

Above all, Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He treasured the life he built with his beloved wife of more than 30 years, Chesta, and it brought him great happiness spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying their laughter, he was happiest surrounded by family.

Tim is survived by his loving wife, Chesta (Idle) Jewett; his daughters, Naomi (Brandon) Lamb and Maria (Raymond) Vasquez; his stepson, Bo Zwolski; his thirteen cherished grandchildren, Kayla (Michael) Sawyer, Gavin, Olivia, Vivienne, Raven, Vayda, Mekka, London, Dakota, Ezra, Bella, Blakely, and Brady; and his great-grandson, Luka, who brought him immense pride and joy.

As the first of eight children, he is survived by his six brothers: Michael, Brian (Annette), John “Scott,” Daniel, Christopher (Stacey), and William; and his only sister, Kimberly (Bill) Ploof. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved aunt Jane and uncle Richard “Dick” Mahoney.

Tim will be remembered for his steady strength, his generous heart, his quiet humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the lives he touched.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. –10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429. A memorial service celebrating Tim will begin at 10:00 a.m. Private committal services will be held at Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, March 16.
