Tony M. Elam

July 20, 1943 — November 7, 2012

ELAM, Tony Micheal, age 69 of Centerville passed away at Miami Valley Hospital South on November 7, 2012. Preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Myrtle Elam, Tony is survived by his wife of thirty years, Karen and their daughter Danielle. Tony was born July 20th, 1943 in Hazard, KY, was a 1961 graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School and a 1966 graduate of General Motors Institute. An electrical engineer, who throughout his career worked for Wright Patterson Air Force Base and SAIC, was as brilliant as he was kind, funny and generous. Known around the neighborhood as "Tony the Tool Man", he loved to build, create and help others in any way he could. We liked to say that he never met a stranger, as anyone who ever knew him can say that they walked away with a new anecdote to share and a smile on their face. Beloved by his wife and daughter and by all who knew him, his sudden passing is a loss to all. However, we will continue to live each day in honor of him and how he lived his life- with intelligence, wit, compassion and a never-ending curiosity. Both a service and celebration of Tony's life will be held on Sunday, November 11th at the Elam home in Centerville beginning at 1pm.
