Utta "Judy" Bonnett

January 24, 1935 — August 20, 2023

Dayton

BONNETT, Utta “Judy”, age 88, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Judy was born in Germany on January 24, 1935 to a prominent family who owned their own shipping company. She was just nine years old when World War II ended, and she had to learn how to adapt to the new post-war world. Judy’s path in life brought her to the United States in 1964, where she moved to Dayton and raised her two sons. She took on work as a German Translation Contractor, translating documents for lawyers. Judy could often be found curled up with a good book or solving the latest crossword puzzle. She had a deep devotion to her family and was a fierce caregiver. Judy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Carl Oscar Wanckel; sister, Dagmar; and brother, Carl. She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Roberta) and Gregory; grandson, Ian (Clara Coleman); half-siblings, Nina and Endress; and sister-in-law, Monique Wanckel. Private family services will be held. The family would like to express their gratitude to Carriage Inn for their compassion, Miami Valley Hospital and Hospice of Dayton for their excellent care of Judy, and Judy’s friends and neighbors, especially Char Lipinski, for their love and support throughout the years.

Memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
