Virginia Elaine Motko

November 17, 1930 — July 28, 2025

Virginia E. Motko, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away peacefully July 29, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on November 17, 1930, in New Carlisle, Ohio, she was the daughter of Paul O. Spohn and Edna E. Spohn.

A graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, Virginia began her career at Rike’s department store before transitioning to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she worked as a civilian contractor overseeing recreational activities. She was a dedicated worker known for her quiet strength and compassionate spirit.

Virginia met her husband, Louis Motko, at a young age the two were childhood neighbors who fell in love and shared 53 years of marriage. Together, they lived a simple and meaningful life, spending weekends exploring flea markets and antique shops. They were longtime members of East Dayton Church of the Brethren and enjoyed life on their small farm, where they cared for many beloved animals.

Virginia was talkative, kindhearted, and a true homebody. She found joy in the little things and in caring for those around her. Her gentle presence and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Edna; her husband, Louis Motko; her brother, Paul Spohn; and her nephew, Greg Spohn. She is survived by her brother, Richard N. Spohn (Karen); nieces, Patricia, Tammy, and Jennifer; and nephews, Danny and Randy.

A graveside service will be held at 11am at Woodland Cemetery on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
