William Timothy Andrews

W. Tim Andrews was born in Painesville, Ohio on April 23, 1928 and raised in Cincinnati where he graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1952. He later attended The Ohio State University and received his Chartered Life Underwriters Degree from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. He was a lifelong Ohio State football fan!

Tim was the son of James G. Andrews and Florence (Meister) Andrews of Celina, Ohio. He was a WWII veteran, serving with the 25th Infantry Division during the occupation of Japan from 1946 – 1948. He later served eight years as an officer in the US Air Force Reserves.

Tim was associated with Pacific Life for over 50 years and was their National Agent of the Year in 1980. A lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, he served as President of both the Dayton Association of Life Underwriters and the Miami Valley Estate Planning Council. He was the recipient of both the Whalen Award and the Burns Award for outstanding service to the community and his profession.

Tim was a longtime and active member of the Kettering Community. He was past president of the Kettering/Moraine/Oakwood Chamber of Commerce, the Kettering Oakwood Exchange Club, the Kettering Community Improvement Corporation and the Kettering Loan Review Board. He was a charter member and longtime board member of the Kettering Moraine Museum and the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association. Tim was also an active member and past president of the Criterion Club of Dayton. He was a 70+ year member of the Masonic Lodge and a 16 year member of the Marching Patrol of the Antioch Shrine Club where he also belonged to the Royal Order of Jesters. In addition, Tim was a member of the Greene Country and Waynesville Shrine Clubs.

Tim and his wife, Valerie, were avid world travelers and explored all 50 states and over 80 countries on all seven continents. Tim once ran for public office and lost. He told his many friends that he was “nosed out by a landslide”. Tim was also an enthusiastic golfer and tennis player. In fact, on his 90th birthday, he played 90 minutes of tennis and worked out in the gym for 90 minutes at Quail Run Raquet Club.

Tim loved poetry and, over his lifetime, memorized at least 100 poems, many of which he could still recite until nearly the day of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and his beloved wife, Valerie. He is survived by his daughters, Jenny of Issaquah, WA, Nancy and her husband Joe, of Kettering, and his son, Tim and his wife Kathy of Cincinnati. His three grandchildren, Ben Lawry, Jennifer Heminger (Austin) and W. Tim Andrews DDS (Summer), and his six great grandchildren were the joy of his life.

A Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30am August 23, 2025 at Routsong funeral home Kettering chapel (2100 E Stroop Rd) a memorial service will follow at 11:30.

Tim’s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Carlyle House, especially his favorite “kiddo”, Nurse Meredith, and Ohio Hospice of Dayton.
