age 82, of Kettering, died Sunday, December 17, 2000. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. William was a traffic manager for Top Value Enterprises and was a member of Church of the Ascension. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas Ahern and Johnny Ahern; and 2 sisters, Loretta Cashin and Sister Valeria of The Sisters of Mercy. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth ''Libby'' (Smith) Ahern; 1 daughter, Valeria and husband, Rob Alvey of Springboro; 2 sons, Timothy P. Ahern of Kettering and Tracy and wife, Theresa Ahern, of Kettering; 6 grandchildren, Stacy and Jess Ahern, and Jason, Eric, Brittany and Ryan Alvey; and 4 sisters, Lucy Keating of Dayton, Mary Lou (Smith) Evilsizor of St. Paris, Rosemary Schindler of Punta Gorda FL, and Margaret Cleary of Cincinnati. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m, Thursday, in Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, PO Box 3509, Dayton OH 45401-3509. Burial will be in David's Cemetery.
