Stachler, Walter Urban “Walt”, age 95, formerly of Kettering, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Ocala, FL. Walt was born on August 24, 1922 to the late Ray and Matilda (Rentz) Stachler, in Troy, OH.
He was a graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School and joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. Walt served honorably in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theatre with the Flying Tigers, 491st Bomber Squadron where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his service. Walt retired from Dayton Scale Model where he worked as a precision tool grinder. He was past Commander of the VFW Post #9927. In addition Walt was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion Post 598, K of C Council 4022, and the Kentucky Colonels. Walt was a devoted family man, and loved traveling, especially on his Harley, continuing to ride until the age of 85.
Proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita; brothers, Herbert and Harold; and sister, Dolores. He is survived by his son David (Jane) Stachler; grandchildren Justin (Debby) Stachler, Jaime (Justin) Johnson, and Jennifer Stachler; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Colton Stachler, and Zola and Azae Johnson. He is also survived by his many Harley buddies, friends, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, OH. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
