STRATIS, Leon John, age 94, of Oakwood, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Oakwood, Ohio.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Dressler); parents, John & Edith (Ummel) Stratis; brother, Robert Stratis; and in-laws, Margaret (Dressler) & Robert McKie.
Lee grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Fairview High School. He received two degrees from the University of Cincinnati including his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He returned to Dayton to work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a civilian engineer for over 30 years, heading up several projects including the USAF’s Zero-G research aircraft C-131B and the drone project “Pave Tiger”. Lee was a Boy Scout Adult Leader for several years for Troop 236 in Kettering and served on the board of the area Eagle Scout program. He was an active member and former President of the Kettering Kiwanis. He also volunteered for the Goodwill of Dayton and Oakwood Band Parents. Lee was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Dayton View and later, Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering where he served as a finance volunteer for many years.
Lee is survived by his children, James Stratis (Janis) of Bellbrook, Susan Montesano (Andy) of Oakwood, David Stratis (Haynes Johns) of Chicago; grandchildren, Kari Ritzi (Chris), Kelly Keim (Jon), Mark Stratis, AJ & Jami Montesano; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn & Conrad Keim, Alyssa & Mariah Ritzi; sister-in-law, Mary Stratis, niece, Stacey Stratis; nephews, Greg Stratis (Lorraine), John McKie (Yuan) & Dick McKie (Sue) and several great nieces & great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 1 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Burial will be in David’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10am until time of service.
