Thomas A. Routsong Owner/Funeral Director

Owner Tommy Routsong works with a remarkable team of individuals to provide you a outstanding service. The Routsong family of associates are highly skilled and caring individuals who are empowered to help you create a service that is truly meaningful and fulfills all your needs. You will be given undivided attention and compassion throughout your experience with us. 

Tommy was born and raised above the Oakwood Chapel, in Dayton, Ohio. He became an active member of the Routsong team by the age of nine. He received his Bachelors Degree from Albion College in 1979 and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1981. In July of 2002, Tommy purchased the business from his father, Thomas H. Routsong, who remains active in the community and assists his friends when called upon. Tommy is the third generation of Routsongs to take over the helm of this family owned business. He is a member of David's United Church of Christ, Oakwood Rotary Club, Far Hills Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine, Dayton Art Institute and Dayton Country Club. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Community Blood and Tissue Center of Dayton and the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) and is a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Mortuary Response Team. Tommy is a Certified Celebrant, Certified Funeral Planning Consultant and a Certified Pre- Planning Consultant.

David L. Wolf, CFSP Funeral Director, Embalmer, & Manager

David was born in Dayton and graduated from Franklin High School in 1976, where he was very proud of being on the 1974 gymnastics team that won state that year for Franklin.

 

He joined the United States Navy after high school and retired out of San Francisco in 1996 after 20 years of loyal service to his country. David served on board the USS Independence, USS Eisenhower and the USS Kitty Hawk during his time in the Navy and loves telling a story or two about his many experiences working on the flight deck and being part of such an amazing operation.

 

David came on board with Routsong Funeral Home in 1999. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science in 2000 and became a licensed Funeral Director in 2001 after an apprenticeship for a year. David’s present position is General Manager.

 

He is a member of Centerville Rotary Club and attends Southbrook Christian Church.

 

David is very proud of his two children, David Jr., Krista and granddaughter, Alexis.

 

He is also proud of his four legged family members, Stella and Grey.

Stephanie Fehl Funeral Director & Embalmer info@routsong.com

Stephanie came to Routsong Funeral Home as our first female Funeral Director & Embalmer back in 1996, after receiving her Funeral Director’s and Embalmer’s License in 1993 from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.  She had first obtained an Associates in English Bible as well as an Associates of Applied Science, and had also attended Vanderbilt University before obtaining her Bachelors in Mortuary Science.

 

Stephanie was born in Cincinnati, graduated from Colerain High School, and was one of four children, raised by two loving (yet strict) parents.  “I know how very blessed I am, to have both of my parents still with me”, she says, as she helps families struggle with their own losses.  The sting of death affects us all.  “I have my parents, but I lost a child…we all struggle, and can understand the grief the families are going thru”

 

Stephanie serves our families both on the front line as well as behind the scenes.  She takes great pride in the care and detail given to each lost loved one.  “To care for the dead in our society is an honored privilege.”  Her attention to detail is noticed.  Families are attracted to her kind and giving nature.  She is sympathetic and understanding, and goes out of her way to make each service meaningful and special.

 

Stephanie is now an empty nester, her oldest son: William, is a Teacher in Indianapolis, IN  (& Aubrey) are the parents of her two adorable grandsons: Leo and Fox; her middle child, Prisca, is a musician, singer/songwriter in Atlanta, GA; and her youngest, Jake, is an Engineer in Kettering, OH.

 

When she has time to herself, Stephanie enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, and picking up trash while enjoying the outdoors.  “I want to keep the Earth green & beautiful for my grandkids, and if that means picking up someone else’s trash while I go for a walk, then I’m fine with that.”

Samuel T. Routsong Funeral Director Apprentice sam@routsong.com

Sam is part of the fourth generation of Routsongs to work at the funeral home. He has been a full-time funeral directing apprentice since June of 2016, but previously had worked in many of the positions around the funeral home. To date he has made arrangements with over 250 families while learning every apspect of the business from his father and grandfather. 

Sam is especcially proud to be carrying on his family's tradtion of helping others in their time of need.

Stephanie began her career here at Routsong Funeral Home in November of 2010 starting as part-time office help. She quickly grew to become Office Manager for many years, taking pride in the day-to-day operations geared towards helping her co-workers. In 2016, she was offered the position of Financial Controller and accepted gladly. Stephanie enjoys the family oriented atmosphere that Routsong exudes and thinks of all her co-workers as family members. Her growth at Routsong has been one of her proudest achievements. 

 

Stephanie and her husband Matthew have 3 beautiful children, Lillian, Rylee, and Liam. They reside on a small farm in Tipp City with their 2 mainecoons, Jax and Loki. Stephanie enjoys everything that has to do with the outdoors and staying active. She loves being able to float down the Great Miami River on her Kayak during the warmer months, hikes year-round, and frequents many yoga studios in the area.

Kylie Brittain Office Manager info@routsong.com

Kylie came to work for Routsong Funeral Home in February of 2017 and quickly found her niche in the front office. Her education from Sinclair and background in art and photography has proved to be a great asset to our team. Kylie is our office manager and one of our Pet Cremation Specialists. Her love of animals is evident in how compassionately she treats all the furry loved ones that come through our doors. She thoughtfully takes fur clippings and ink paw prints of the pets. She then uses those to make memorial keepsake folders for the families to keep and cherish forever.

 

Kylie also puts her creative talents to work by designing a lot of the printed material we use for services. She tries to personalize and customize each memorial folder and register book she prints. The families appreciate the attention to detail and the time she puts into each and every one.   

 

She has three children, Savannah, Tyler, and Valor who she’s raising with the love of her life, Ben Minton. They also share their home with two mutts, Tuggernutz and Nico. “Life is better with dogs.”

Ashley joined Routsong Funeral Home in 2013. She has a passion for helping others in their time of need and has decided to make that leap from Office Manager to a full time student so she can pursue her dream of helping others as a Funeral Director. Ashley was born and raised in the Dayton area. She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the surrounding areas and attending community events and festivals.

Ellis Rogers Support Staff

Ellis was born in Bloomington, Indiana but moved to the Dayton area at the age of twelve. He is a graduate of Sinclair Community College, with a degree in Quality Engineering, and Wright State University, with a degree in Psychology. He served in the US Air Force for four years and worked in the medical equipment manufacturing industry as a Quality and Regulatory Manager until retirement. 

 

Ellis and his wife Cora have resided in Kettering for 41 years. They have a daughter, Laura, who lives in Hillsboro, Ohio and a son, David, who lives in Bexley, Ohio. They are blessed to have four granddaughters and two grandsons. Ellis and Cora are active members of Faith Baptist Church in Beavercreek, Ohio. 

 

Ellis joined the Routsong staff in August 2006.

Rick Lawson

Rick has lived in the Dayton area for over 30 years. He attended Sinclair Community College and Wright State University and worked as an Insurance Professional for over 15 years. Rick has been the Property Manager at Routsong Funeral Home since 2001. 

 

He received his Master Gardener certification in 2002 and continues his education each year to maintain that certification. He also volunteers at Woodland Cemetery helping to care for their gardens.

 

Rick keeps very busy with his five children and eight grandchildren.
